1. Blink Regularly
Many people forget to blink regularly when working on a digital device. Blinking is important because it keeps your eyes lubricated. Having dry eyes may increase your risk of developing digital eye strain, so remember to blink!
2. Make the 20-20-20 Rule a Habit
Your eye doctor emphasizes the need to rest your eyes regularly when using digital devices. After every 20 minutes of computer work, rest your eyes for 20 seconds by looking at an object 20 feet way.
3. Maintain Adequate Lighting
Good lighting helps maintain visual health and comfort. Ditch the harsh overhead lighting and invest in a table lamp or floor lamp instead for a softer glow. You can also use blinds and invest in an anti-glare screen to control the light.
4. Wear Computer Eyeglasses
Another good precautionary measure to take is to wear computer eyeglasses. Your optometrist can prescribe a pair that’s specially engineered to block glare emitted by your devices.
